A performative workshop on writing with landscape.
‘Striving Outwards’ with Surrey University staff on Farlington Marshes (2018).
A workshop of guided performative writing exercises that engage with the landscape as sensory and subjective experience, and as a collaborative presence in the activity of writing.’Striving Outwards’ activities experiment with methods for writing with rather than about place, and consider possibilities for incorporating such methods into individual critical writing or performance making practices.
The workshop draws on deep listening techniques of Pauline Oliveros and Allan Kaprow’s Activities to support discussion across disciples on engagements with place and the relationship between landscape and language.
